In George Andreopolous’s first week at Carleton University, he wanted to match the accommodations he received from his Individualized Education Program in high school.
He reached out to the Paul Menton Centre, the campus disability services department, and chose extended exam time and a smaller exam room, plus access to the volunteer notetaker peer-based support program.

Vanessa Gomez’s Filipino parents spoke English to her growing up. Born and raised in Ottawa, she picked up a few Tagalog words and phrases but had no idea how to speak the language.

Here’s how Carleton’s new nursing program is shaping up

Launched in September in partnership with Ottawa’s Queensway Carleton Hospital, Carleton University’s new nursing program is looking to address a nursing shortage in the province.

SAW Centre unveils new exhibit addressing homelessness, housing insecurity

In Ottawa’s SAW centre sits a tiny, old TV. The film Mattress City sparks to life on the screen, depicting a man lying on top of a sea of mattresses.

CUSA launches student discount card supporting local businesses

Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) launched a new student discount card on Oct. 1 that gives students up to 20 per cent off at 37 participating businesses across Ottawa.
The association’s focus was to support students and local businesses with the project, according to CUSA vice-president of finance Samuel Easby. Businesses include restaurants, cafés, gyms, hair and nail salons including Reflections Hair Salon, For God Shakes and Stella Luna Gelato Café.
